Shri Deepak Goel
Shri Deepak Goel belongs to the 2008 batch of the Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME) and is currently serving as Director in the Ministry of Coal since April 2023. He completed his B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh. Before joining Indian Railways, he served as an Executive Engineer in the Corps of EME, Indian Army for three years and worked with NTPC for two years, gaining wide experience across infrastructure, defence, and energy sectors. He has undertaken several advanced training programs in India and abroad, the most notable being High-Speed Rolling Stock training at JICA, Japan, which enhanced his technical knowledge and managerial capabilities. As Director in charge of the CPIAM Section, Shri Goel oversees the monitoring and review of coal sector projects through platforms such as PRAGATI, OCMS, PMG, and E-Samiksha. His key responsibilities include supervision of coal evacuation infrastructure like railway lines, connectivity projects, and FMC projects, along with implementation of the Coal Logistics Plan and integration with PM Gati Shakti. He is also driving diversification initiatives covering thermal power plants, solar and wind energy, gasification, washeries, OB to M-sand, and pumped storage projects. In addition, he looks after EC/FC clearances, fly ash management, MDO and revenue share projects, and Make in India initiatives, contributing significantly to efficiency, sustainability, and self-reliance in the coal sector.
